WELCOME TO THE BONANSA ENGLISH SPEECH COMPETITION 2010
All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the World, the Master and the Creator of everything in the Universe, the Destroyer of all oppressors and the Hope of the oppressed, for enabling us to meet together in the simple but peaceful place.
In this very nice occasion, I’m Intan Helmi Shintya want to deliver my speech under the title Striving In This Time, For Strive In The Next Time.
Brothers and Sisters, dear Ladies and Gentlemen
Talking about drugs.
According health experts, drugs are psychotropic that commonly used to anesthetize patients during surgery or going on medicine for certain diseases, but it can be danger if drugs used without control. Drugs are substances which generally have a risk of addiction for the users. And this is the problem, when drugs have cnsume by people it can make them be an addictive person, they will want more and more to use it. In the other hand we all know that drugs have many disadvantages for people who use it. It can influence and disturb every side of people’s life, such as: Health side, Social side, Psychology side, moreover Economic side. That’s why, in this nice occasion I want to tell about what actually drugs, what is the bad effect of drugs, why we have to prevent drug abuse and say no to drugs, and the last what should we do to prevent drug abuse and make a better life without drugs.
There are many kinds of drugs, such as: Marijuana, Heroin, Morphine, Cocaine, Narcotics, and etc. All of that kinds of drugs have the same effect, bad effect. There are some bad effect that emerge as appear of drug abuse:
1. Hallucinatons
Is the effect of drugs that can make the consumer being a dreamer in bad meaning. For example like if they consume cocaine or LTD in several substances they will imagine something which is impossible. Yea just like crazy people or nuts people. That’s why I said a dreamer but in bad meaning.
2. Addictive
Someone who already consume drugs will usually want more and more to use it because of certain substances in drugs resulted in a tendency to be passive, because drugs indirectly decide nerves in the brain, such as Marijuana, Heroin, and Putaw.
3. The most devastating drug abuse effects are overdoses
Overdoses occur when people do not know how much the body can accept the drugs at one time and when increased amounts of the drugs are injected or injested is uncontrol.
During 2005, total accident that caused by drug abuse are 4.544 cases, with 1.146 death caused by overdoses and almost all of the sacrifice are adolescents which have a range age between 15 up to 20 (source: tempo interactive). It can happened because nowadays, there are many people misuse drugs, so there is no substance control. And it’s really dangerous especially for the young generation like adolescents. For adolescents, it is to hard to divide which one that can support them to realize their dream, or in the contrary anything that give more disadvantages and bad influences. Sometimes when adolescents feel depressed because of something that press them, and they have give up with their life they will be really easy to influence something bad from their environment like drugs. And it is really support with the psychology of adolescents that still labil and want to try something new in their life. If the problems of drugs can not solve yet, it will be really difficult to creat a bright future and a better life.
For government, it is to hard to prevent drug abuse. Why?? Because as we know almost all of people in this world could easily to get drugs from people who are not responsible. For example from drug dealers who likes to look for a sacrifice in school area, mall, or in prostitution. Actually any drug eradication efforts have often done, but it is still less possible to avoid drugs among people especially among adolescents.

After we know many cases of drug abuse, some kinds of drugs and the effect, also the government opinion about drug abuse. Now, we as the adolescent which have an important role to make this world free from drugs and to creat a bright future and a better life without drugs, we not we not only looking for the cases but also taking a part to obtain the solution of drug abuse in this world. Standing here, I want to give some solutions to prevent drug abuse to creat bright future and a better life. And the solutions are:
C : COOPERATION.
Cooperation between the Government and the Environment is needed, so the distribution of drugs can control as well as can. And the parents must have a tight control to their children. Because bad influences are easier to addict than the advantages ones.
R : RESPONSIBILITY.
We especially adolescents must be responsible with their life, because as we know adolescents are the most important part that can help this world free from drugs and to creat bright future and a better life.
A : AWARENESS.
We must be aware that we have many friends and family which are care with us. So whenwe got troubles or feel depressed, drug is not the way. But care and love from our friends or family is the best ones.
B : BRAIN.
We must be selective to choose our friends. Because sometimes many bad influences come from our close friends. And the most important thing is be our self, and save our self with God guidance.

Let me conclude my speech. Drug abuse is ones of the factor that can make our future become dark. Why? Because it gave many bad effects, such as Hallucinations., Addictive, and overdoses until death. If you forgot the solutions, let me remind you: CRAB: Cooperation, Responsibility, Awareness, and Brain. Let save our life, and create our bright future without drugs. Remember, “Youth is an ambition, age is experiences, in youth we learn, in old we understand.”
